Making Progress on English Courses
Your progress and results are important for us, and we are aware of the challenges you face when learning a new language. As a St Giles student you should expect to make progress whatever the length of your course. We offer you:
Expert Teaching
Our teachers are our greatest strength. Highly trained, with many years of experience, our teachers are supportive, professional and focused on helping you achieve your goals.
All teachers at St Giles International must have, as a minimum requirement, a recognised certificate for Teaching English as a Foreign Language, for example the Cambridge CELTA or the Trinity Cert. TESOL or equivalent, as well as a University degree. In exceptional circumstances, we may employ teachers who do not possess one of the above qualifications, if in our opinion they may be reasonably deemed to be appropriately qualified or experienced.
Interactive Lessons
In your classes you will use real life materials and situations, and your teachers will encourage you to participate and motivate you to learn. We focus on building your confidence in using the language and greater fluency across all skills.
Personal Classes
Our small classes mean that our teachers can focus on you and your needs, with high levels of student-teacher interaction to help you make progress.
Regular 1:1 Counselling
You will have a 1:1 counselling session with your teacher every two weeks. This will allow you to influence the content of your programme, discuss your needs and manage your objectives. We keep a record of these sessions, allowing us to chart your progress through the duration of your course. Furthermore, regular testing (every two weeks), enables your teachers to check your progress and then discuss it with you.
Modern Facilities
Our facilities include interactive whiteboards, digital language laboratories and use of real-life materials. These will help you to be motivated and participate actively in your lessons.
Self-Access Centres
Make the most of your free time by studying in our Self-Access centres. Discuss your self-study programme with your teacher during your counselling sessions.
Level Descriptions
We use the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) to determine your English level. There are six levels, ranging from A1 to C2.
