A special programme of General English combined with social and cultural activities

You have a chance to relax and make friends as well as learn about the life and culture of London and Britain - and improve your English at the same time!

Choose between an English language course of 15 lessons a week (Monday to Friday 13.45 to 16.45) or 20 lessons a week (Monday to Friday 13.45 to 17.40). The language course develops your General English skills, improving your speaking, listening, reading and writing, as well as pronunciation and grammar.

There is an emphasis on communication and we use authentic materials so that you can put your English to practical use in the situations where you need it.

Our teachers are well qualified, experienced and enthusiastic and we have excellent facilities for independent study.

In the mornings the programme includes a series of activities and excursions, each accompanied by a teacher or guide.

Wednesday	Highgate Village, Hampstead Heath and Kenwood House
Thursday	The Tower Bridge Experience: visit inside the towers and walkways of London's landmark bridge
Friday	The British Museum OR free afternoon

Week B
Monday	Orientation and preparation for the week's visits
Tuesday	Madame Tussauds: London's famous waxwork museum and exhibition
Wednesday	London from the River Thames: sightseeing tour by river boat
Thursday	A walk round Westminster and the Houses of Parliament
Friday	The National Gallery OR free afternoon

Week C
Monday	Orientation and preparation for the week's visits
Tuesday	The Longitude Experience: Dockland's Railway to Greenwich and the Royal Observatory
Wednesday	Royal London: a walk round the palaces of London
Thursday	The Museum of London
Friday	The Tate Modern OR free afternoon

Week D
Monday	Orientation and preparation for the week's visits
Tuesday	Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and a walk along the River Thames
Wednesday	The City of London: the financial district and St Paul's Cathedral
Thursday	A walk down Oxford Street, London's famous shopping district
Friday	The Geffrye Museum OR free afternoon

Materials and entrance costs are included in the price, but travel costs are extra.

There is also a separate comprehensive social programme open to all St. Giles students. As well as excursions to famous places like Cambridge, Canterbury, Brighton and Stonehenge, there are international parties, barbecues and quiz nights at the college, plus trips to the theatre to see top London musicals.
