New CELTA Programme at St Giles New York City

2014 was an exciting year for St Giles New York City, which not only doubled its capacity, but also launched its first Cambridge CELTA course (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) with great success.

CELTA is one of the most widely taken qualifications in the TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) industry with thousands of people from around the world gaining the Cambridge qualification each year. Many students choose to take a CELTA course because it equips them with the knowledge and skills, as well as practical teaching experience, required to become a confident and successful English language teacher anywhere in the world.

St Giles New York City, an internationally recognised English language school with state of the art facilities, is based in central Manhattan right beside the Empire State Building. Its new CELTA programme takes place in recently renovated, spacious classrooms with fantastic views of Fifth Avenue. Along with dedicated teacher training rooms which are equipped with the latest interactive whiteboards, the CELTA trainees also have access to teacher training computers, printers, and photocopiers which provide them with the necessary tools and space to study and collaborate during school hours.

St Giles International has a great reputation within the industry and many years of experience in training teachers. St Giles San Francisco, part of the international group of language schools, was the first school in the USA to offer the CELTA course. And although the course is new for St Giles New York City, the feedback has been exceptional. CELTA student, Shayna Minkin, says:

“Before I took CELTA, I had never taught before, and I was nervous to start. As I began the course, however, my fears quickly melted away. My teachers were incredibly caring and supportive individuals who shared their wealth of experience through dynamic and informative lessons. They provided me with the tools and support I needed to become the successful and confident ESL teacher that I am today.”

St Giles New York City offers regular start dates for its four-week intensive CELTA course throughout the year.  For more information, please contact the school at teachertraining@stgiles-usa.com.
