We also offer teacher training courses at St Giles New York City. Teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) involves teaching students of all ages whose first language is not English. It is an extremely rewarding career and becoming an English teacher will allow you to take advantage of the opportunity to work and live overseas.
St Giles New York City offers the universally accepted Cambridge CELTA award. This course is designed for those with little to no prior experience and will give you the basic understanding, practical teaching experience and confidence to qualify as a teacher of English as a Second Language. It is great for individuals who have recently graduated or those who simply want a change in career path. Immediately after completing the CELTA course, you will be ready to start working in a variety of teaching roles across the world.
The intensive course lasts for four weeks, is split across various units of study and combines practice and theory. Previous experience is not required; however, we do request that candidates have a university degree or equivalent. Candidates must be at least 18 years old with good language awareness. The Cambridge CELTA is also available as a part-time course that runs for 12 weeks.
