Platinum students experienced New York in a whole new light – the dark!

Last Thursday, our St Giles Platinum Students supplemented their English Courses in New York by sharpening their listening skills at Dialog in the Dark: http://www.dialognyc.com/what-is-it.html.

This fantastic exhibit guides you through simulations of familiar New York environments in complete darkness. With the encouraging help of our guide Valerie, we listened to the birds in Central Park, dodged ‘traffic’ in Times Square and rode the subway.  We followed the sound of her voice and the tap of our canes through the exhibit relying solely on our senses of hearing, smell and touch.

We bumped into each other and giggled and by the end we were all amazed at how much of New York we couldn’t capture in our photographs. It opened our eyes to the sensory delights that New York has to offer, beyond the hot dogs!
