Explore a city like a local with our new Secret Cities: English plus Unique Experiences course

Our new Secret Cities: English plus Unique Excursions launches in 2019, and will help you discover a new city like a local. The course combines General English lessons with a programme full of unique and interesting activities and excursions, as recommended by city locals! The course will be available for over 18s in London, Brighton, New York and San Francisco, plus we have a special version for under 18s at London Highgate.

We’ve picked out 10 of our favourite activities from the Secret City timetables. The timetables are full of a variety of activities to suit everyone, and will offer you a truly authentic experience of a new city.

 

 Brighton: Sea Kayaking (Week 1) –Learn a new skill whilst enjoying the beauty of Brighton and its coastline from a different perspective. If you are a sports enthusiast or if you are up for a new challenge then Sea Kayaking is the experience for you!

Theatre Trip – Theatre Royal  (Week 2) – Get an insight into Brighton’s rich cultural history by visiting the Theatre Royal, one of the oldest working theatres in the UK. From William Shakespeare to comedy acts, there is something here for everyone. This is a real cultural experience, with eye-opening talent, steeped in dramatic tradition.

London: Ladies and Gentlemen Bar (Week 2) – A local treasure, hidden under the streets of London away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this cosy neighbourhood bar has been voted second best in the world. It serves ‘Highway Gin’ which is distilled within the bar – this refurbished bathroom stall is the most intriguing bar in town…

Abbey Road walking tour and studios (Week 4) – Walk across the iconic zebra crossing and visit the place iconic performers have recorded… the Beatles, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse and more. Feel the magic the incredible musicians have felt whilst recording unforgettable tunes at Abbey Road.

New York: Boat party (Week 3) – Enjoy a celebration like no other, with views of Manhattan from a different perspective and 360 views of the incredible city of New York. With live DJ’s, drinks and games you can watch the sunset and party the night away.

Pizza, wine and a movie at Rooftop Reds – At this one- of-a-kind rooftop bar, with a fully-operational vineyard, you can see the sights of Brooklyn whilst getting cosy with a glass of wine and a movie, surrounded by your friends. With the back drop of sweeping views of NYC, you can make beautiful new memories.

San Francisco:Baseball Park tour AT&T – Get to know the SAN FRAN GIANTS with a behind the scenes tour of the three-time World Series Champion’s stadium, where the breath-taking back drop rivals the intensity of the game. Visit the areas of the stadium where only the players go, get a feel of the dugout & exclusively visit the amazing Giant Vault.

Mission Dolores – Delve into the cultural history of San Francisco by visiting the oldest surviving structure in the city. The centre of ‘religious, civic and cultural life in San Francisco’, Mission Dolores highlights the diversity and vibrancy of modern day San Francisco.

London Highgate: under 18s: Harry Potter Studios (Week 1) – Uncover the magic behind the magical world of Harry Potter… but shhh…. keep the secrets. See the incredible artistry that made the movies. Walk down ‘Diagon Alley’ and enter the ‘Great Hall’.

Graffiti Workshop (Week 2) – Learn a new skill at a graffiti workshop. Practice your spray can art, see the works of the infamous Banksy and explore the hidden art that is on display around London. Regardless of your artistic ability – challenge yourself and give something new a try.
