Introducing Chef Chenda!

The team at St Giles Vancouver are very pleased to introduce their newest member of staff, Chenda, as their cafeteria volunteer!  Chenda is a business woman from North Cambodia, who decided to move to Canada in order to improve her spoken English and get to know new cultures. In her country, where her family still live, she worked as a travel agent and used to own a restaurant.

In Vancouver, we have a smaller cafeteria, and it is often run with the help of students. This provides Chenda with the opportunity to interact with students from all over the world. She also has the chance to introduce students to food from her culture as well as learn about North American food. Before she started to work with us, she had never made sandwiches or hot dogs!!

As you can see in the pictures, she makes fantastic food! Her cooking has quickly become very popular, and her lunches always sell out! You have to hurry if you want to get some.

We are all so happy to have Chenda with us, and look forward to many more delicious meals from our wonderful new cook!
