St Giles

What advice would you give to someone who is new to St. Giles?

Hongjoon from South Korea is currently learning English at our San Francisco centre.  Here, Hongjoon shares some great advice on how to get the most out of your time studying at St Giles.

Welcome to St Giles! Are you a first-time student? I will give you some advice about St Giles life. Of course, you want to be good at speaking English, right? To do this, you should take my advice and follow some of my rules and tips.

First of all, you don’t use your mother tongue. Although you meet people who are from your country, you must not speak your language. According to many teachers at St Giles, they have seen a lot of students who use their language. And these students don’t improve their speaking skills.

Secondly, don’t be absent and don’t be late to classes. In the end, you might not receive your certificate from St Giles.

Thirdly, don’t be shy when you’re trying to speak. Please keep in mind that you are at St Giles to learn how to speak English. I know it is very difficult for you to speak to other people. But you have to overcome this problem. As you try to solve this problem, you can be better than before.

In conclusion, if you follow my advice, you can have a successful time and you will be able to speak English more fluently!
