Easter Time!

What to do this Easter Weekend?
Easter is a Christian celebration and is held on the first Sunday after the first full moon, following the Northern Spring equinox. However, although Easter is a religious holiday, there are many traditions that have formed over the years. The main two things that I’m looking forward to this Easter are chocolate (and lots of it!) and… a long weekend! In the UK, both Friday and Monday are public holidays, and in the USA & Canada Friday is a public holiday.

Easter egg hunt
The Easter bunny is a mysterious creature that leaves chocolate eggs around the house and garden on Easter Sunday. It is mainly for children who get to run around collecting as many chocolate eggs as possible. However, adults can definitely participate too!

Easter Arts & Crafts
There are many fun arts activities that you can do to entertain yourselves at Easter time. Decorating egg shells is quite common and in the UK, creating Easter bonnets is popular. An Easter bonnet is a hat decorated with anything Easter related such as eggs, bunnies and flowers.

Hot Cross Buns
We believe that hot cross buns deserve a whole paragraph because they are so tasty. If you are in the UK, you definitely have to try one, or two, or three. They are spiced buns filled with currants or raisins and marked with a cross on top to represent the crucifixion of Jesus. If you can, toast them and spread some butter on them. Delicious!

There are many more traditions and activities you can participate in over the long Easter weekend. If you’re looking for ideas of what to do this long weekend, check out some of the links below!
